I was sad to hear that John Edwards dropped out of the presidential race today. He was my choice for president. I feel that he had the best chance to win against any Republican nominee. I also liked his stand on most issues. His messages about poverty in America, his work with strengthening unions, universal healthcare, the environment and the war in Iraq struck a chord with me. It appears that now, whoever is elected, we'll be in Iraq for years to come. Of all the viable candidates, he stuck to his policies and ideals and didn't get caught up in personal insults being hurled between Clinton and Obama. The media did him a great dis-service in marginalizing him and making it a race between Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama from the beginning. The fact that he is white, good looking, rich and from the South didn't help either. Too bad. I think we missed another good one. Sort of like electing George Bush instead of Al Gore. I am really torn about what to do now. It looks like John McCain will be the Republican nominee. If it comes down to him and Clinton, I would have to seriously consider him. I don't really see alot of difference between the two in terms of policies. I would trust him on a personal level much more than Hillary. As to Obama, I am not convinced. I hear the inspirational talks about change, but not alot of substance. What a mess. We're faced again with a choice between two people we're not really for. It will be interesting to say the least.

Well, I guess that leaves us both a bit remiss... I was rooting for Giuliani (don't laugh).
But I gotta tell ya, this election is almost as dramatic as a soap opera!
daaaaaaad, mccain!?!? maybe 8 years ago...
Okay, you're kidding, right? McCain????? McCain?????? Another republican in the white house, with a republican agenda, who for starters doesn't believe in a woman's right to choose? Yikes, I so don't agree with you that there's not alot of difference between McCain and Clinton. That's what Ralph Nader said about Bush and Gore, and alot of people believed him. Unfortunately I don't think I'm wrong in saying that Nader cost Gore the election. And what a difference that made. I think the democrats have two strong candidates, either one of which I would take any day over McCain.
And wait a minute....weren't our last few presidents white, rich and from the south? (Whether or not they were good looking is another matter).
Cenzo,, John McCain was tortured for years in Vietnam but has voted for legislation basically allowing it. To this day he still uses the word "gook" when referring to the Vietnamese people. He wrote a book on courage but shows none. And he is definately showing signs of Alzheimers. If people don't like whoever the Democratic candidate is I would rather they don't vote at all. McCain would be a horrible choice. Brother Ron
On a side note, I am hoping the Democratic convention is so deadlocked that John Edwards is picked as the eventual nominee. I think he has said he will not accept the vice presidential nomination because he thinks that is a possibility. He has been my choice since President Gore said he would not accept the nomination. (we can always hope he changes his mind though.) Ron
(ahem)
I swear that somebody said they were going to blog again...
